Santa Anas vs. Herniated Disks

The Santa Anas showed up this week out here making for some hot colorful days and cool clear nights. Susanne and I stopped by the beach today to catch a couple rays and I brought my camera out. Normally, I would have gone surfing... but a bad back has kept me out of the water for the longest time since I started surfing back in 1986 (4 months so far)!

Needless to say, I did get some great enjoyment out of crawling around in the sand taking some really shallow depth-of-field images of the shoreline. Getting dangerously close to the water with my camera gives a pretty cool perspective to the tiny waves on the inside... and having a full-frame sensor is always nice for producing that cool looking vignette in the blue sky.

Tell me that you locals got out this weekend and enjoyed this amazing weather in November!

  • Fabulous pictures, Aaron! Excellent for a temporarily-non-surfing guy!

  • Tell me, you didn't use an underwater housing? LOVE these. The ocean is calling me back to CA. Can you feel it too? LOVE these images. Good work.

  • Yeah... I can't wait to get back in the surf! Hey Mikael... nope, no water housing, although I would LOVE one of those! Suffice it to say, I spent some time when I got home cleaning the salt water off of my camera ;-)
